10 Best Brunch Spots in the Financial District (Hungry Foodie) (1)

The Financial District might not be the most obvious destination for brunch, considering the area is best known for the 9-5 crowd. Unlike most NYC neighborhoods, the area mellows out on the weekends, but that doesn’t mean you’ll go hungry while exploring the areas. Here’s a roundup of my favorite brunch in the Financial District.

La Parisienne

Website: La Parisienne
Address:
9 Maiden Lane, New York, NY
Brunch:
Daily until 4pm

Charming the neighborhood since 2017, Francophiles will feel right at home at La Parisienne, a shoebox cafe serving some of the best brunch in the Financial District. Helmed by a young French couple, the menu is replete with breakfast staples like french toast, salmon brioche and delectable avocado toast.

Everything on the menu is bound to impress, which isn’t a coincidence. The owners, Julie and Adrian, worked for city’s best French restaurants (Benoit, Ladurée, Tartinery) before stepping out on their own. From quick coffee runs to aperol hour and leisurely lunches, La Parisienne is a personal favorite.

Hole In The Wall

Website: Hole In The Wall
Address:
15 Cliff St, New York, NY
Brunch:
Daily from 9am-4pm

In New York, Australian cafes are a dime a dozen, but Hole in the Wall feels special. More of a casual sit-down joint, the cafe is a popular destination every day of the week. During weekdays it swells with coworkers catching up between meetings over proper coffee. Come the weekend you’ll find it challenging to score a table for brunch.

An Australian restaurant first and foremost, Hole in the Wall is a great option for classic Australian brunch dishes, like avocado toast and eggs Benedict. It’s also a great Financial District brunch joint for innovative co*cktails, I’m a big fan of the Brazilian Sunrise (rum, shochu, passionfruit, grapefruit juice, prosecco).

The Malt House

Website: The Malt House
Address:
9 Maiden Lane, New York, NY

The Malt House is a prime destination for boozy brunches in the Financial District. With the purchase of an entree, you’ll get 90 minutes of bottomless co*cktails like mimosas, sangria and maltmosa (wheat beer, champagne, and orange juice) for $25.

As for food, the crab cake Benedict (panko-breaded crab cake, salsa, poached gggs, béarnaise) is my go-to order. But if sweet brunch is more your speed, the sticky toffee pancakes (strawberry-vanilla compote, walnut & chocolate crumble, toffee sauce, and maple butter) might be the move.

Cowgirl SeaHorse

259 Front St, New York, NY

This is a great place to brunch in the Financial District for groups because of the variety of cuisines offered. Whatever you do, make sure the spread starts with an order of the basket of biscuits.

The Paris Cafe

Website: The Paris Cafe
Address:
119 South Street, New York, NY
Brunch:
Saturday & Sunday 11am-4pm

What do Thomas Edison, Teddy Roosevelt and Bob Dylan have in common? They all patronized the Paris Cafe. Opened in 1873, this is one of the oldest restaurants in New York City, reason alone to visit. The brunch menu emphasizes brasserie classics like steak au poivre, beet and goat cheese salad and croque monsieur.

In keeping up with the time, The Paris Cafe expanded the menu to include classic American fare as well, like eggs Benedict, French toast, burgers and avocado toast. Dine like a Parisian or stay the course with beloved American grub, the only non-negotiable at this Financial District brunch haunt is starting with fresh baked baguettes (served with whipped butter).

Mezcali

As you may have guessed, Mezcali is known for mezcal and margaritas, but you might be surprised to learn they also dish out some of the best brunch in the Financial District. Focusing on Southern California Mexican cuisine, the menu offers delectable options like the elote pancakes (short stack, berry compote, whipped butter) and steak and egg breakfast burritos.
