Tropical Storm Alberto forms in the GulfTropical Storm Alberto has formed in the western Gulf of Mexico. Heavy rain, coastal flooding and gusty winds are forecast along the coasts of Texas and northeastern Mexico through Thursday. A gradual increase in speed is expected later today. Maximum sustained winds remain near 40mph with higher gusts. Alberto's tropical storm force winds extend out to 415 miles north of the center. On the forecast track, the center of Alberto will reach the coast of northeastern Mexico early Thursday morning.
